Bob started training in 1983 with a KUGB club in Fife before moving to London with work. After a chance meeting with Sensei's Alan Burton and Simone MacMillan, Bob joined Thames Valley SKI where the emphasis was aimed at the teaching of traditional Shotokan Karate. During this time Bob also trained at the Bank of England with Sensei Dorian Fretwell and was graded there by Hanshi Shiro Asano.
In 1998 Bob returned to Scotland and after much searching for a club where traditional Shotokan Karate was taught, found SKI Perth had the same ethos. Bob is currently graded 2nd Dan by Hanshi Asano and is very pleased that his two sons have followed him in the study of Karate-do.
